| Lord_Lucien_Karsus_Necron02-28-07, 02:05 AM | Has anyone see any 3rd edition stats for the Mordons or Primus? If so where are they? I always liked those guys and Nirvana in general. If they are out there I must have missed them. Thanks for your help ahead of time. |
| Singer_of_the_Song02-28-07, 02:20 AM | They are detailed in the web enhancement for Manual of the Planes. You can find it here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20010921a Primus is detailed in Dragon #341 as a vestige as well (along with Kas). |
| Warmonger85602-28-07, 02:31 AM | And they're due to make an appearance in Dragon issue 354, as well. |
| RavinRay02-28-07, 07:07 AM | I don't have that issue of Dragon, but I'd assume that anytime Primus is slain, a secundus automatically takes its place, so there's simultaneously a reigning Primus and a vestige of an previous Primus. Is that previous Primus the one slain by Orcus/Tenebrous? |
| Daniel_Raitrick02-28-07, 11:09 AM | In Dragon it was stated that Tenebrous killed Primus and left the modrons in disarray. The Secundus did take his place but had the Modrons cloister themselves to their 64 cogs, explaining their lack of prescence recently. |

Is that previous Primus the one slain by Orcus/Tenebrous? Yes that's the one, and he still hates Tenebrous. When Tenebrous-as-Primus was deposed, a secundus took his place as usual. However, the entire modron hierarchy was thrown into disarray, and so this new Primus has confined the modrons to Regulus while it sorts things out. I seem to recall one of the authors of Manual of the Planes really disliking modrons for some reason. I'm not sure why, though. |

| Singer_of_the_Song02-28-07, 01:31 PM | Is he only detailed as a vestige or as a god? Only as a vestige. But that's only that one article, I see no reason to think the current Primus isn't as godly as anyone else. |
| ripvanwormer02-28-07, 02:19 PM | Is he only detailed as a vestige or as a god? He's both. There has been more than one Primus over the eons. One Primus was killed by Tenebrous recently - that Primus has become a vestige. Meanwhile, one of Primus' subordinates, a secundus, ascended to become the new Primus. The new Primus is not a vestige. |

| RavinRay02-28-07, 08:11 PM | ...this new Primus has confined the modrons to Regulus while it sorts things out. So, once it does sort things out, can we expect the modrons to finally radiate beyond the 64 cogs of Regulus, stomp the formians into submission (with Primus whupping the a** of the formian queen), and reclaim their status as the exemplars of law? Looks like another Great Modron March is on the way! :D |

Looks like another Great Modron March is on the way! :D Maybe, though the whole 'sorting out the chaos from Tenebrous' bit is really a cover story more than anything else. There's no way to tell if Wizards (or Planewalker) actually intends to have Primus ever really finish the task. |
| Bob the Efreet03-01-07, 08:29 PM | There's no way to tell if Wizards (or Planewalker) actually intends to have Primus ever really finish the task. I'm sure someone could make a really cool adventure around the idea. |

Looks like another Great Modron March is on the way! :D Who can say....the fact that Modrons are popping up more in Dragon magazines (the vestige, the upcoming article) is promising. i'd love to see Modrons get their due. For the most part, i've never really connected with Formians. At first i was bitter that they were "replacing" my beloved modrons as the main exemplars of Nirvana/Mechanus. Once those feelings ran their course, i still didn't find them interesting. Inevitables, yes! A bunch of ants still didn't do it for me. Lately, i have begun to not only tolerate, but accept Formians as part of the whole of Mechanus. To me....Modrons, still the exemplars of the plane, represent the pure, internal, cerebral aspect of lawful neutral. Inevitables, being constructs, represent the single-minded, focused, external aspects of the alignment. Formians are the initiators of law...the dominant aspects of it. Having Formians with Modrons and Inevitables, both clockworkish beings...adds more diversity to Mechanus. If Modron's roles were given props by WOTC, it'd have my blessing! |

| PunkRockBard03-01-07, 09:23 PM | Don't forget the Moignos. Yeah. Them too. ........... Who they be? |
| DungeonJman03-01-07, 09:30 PM | A group of 2 dimensional constructs, essentially number problems made manifest, devoted towards calculating the exact value of pi. Man, we really need a modron smilie. |
| Shemeska the Marauder03-01-07, 10:54 PM | Who they be? DungeonJman covered their description well, and here's a picture of one. http://arcanofox.foxpaws.net/Moigno.jpg |
| sciborg203-02-07, 02:22 AM | Yet Pi is of irrationality, and perhaps a minion of Chaos, though I place him as favored sun of the Axioms of Mathematics, the mysterious entities that exist perhaps beyond (before?) the gears....but here I speak of dangerous secrets... |
| PunkRockBard03-03-07, 01:20 AM | i thought i was fairly well versed in all planar. You learn something new each day. :turkey: Axiomatic Turkeys. Spreading through Mechanus......find that in Your dusty tombs! |
| alchemyprime03-03-07, 01:04 PM | Modrons... I cannot wait for the new Dragon containing thee! When I saw the pictures of Nirvana/Mechanus I thought "Clocks. Clocks need regularity to work, and it is a plane of law. I like." I saw the inevitables, and tjought "They look cool." I read the Ecology of the... Inevitable, and realized it's what I needed to smack some of my players in the face. (One tried to be a god, one tried to escape death, and another broke every promise he ever made. Perfect!) But formians did not seem right. I knew there was a missing piece of the puzzle. Then I found Modrons in a 2e site. But my players only would take 3.5 after the grueling hours of 2e I made them experience. And so I downloaded the Web Enhancement. To make a long story... well, too late to make it short, but to sum up, I love Modrons. And I allow Primus as a Divine Emisarry of an unknown god. (maybe the plane itself?) |
| RavinRay03-07-07, 06:39 AM | Heads up! The issue's out now for subscribers according to Paizo's sched (http://paizo.com/dragon/products/issues/2007/354). There's a Paizo discussion here (http://paizo.com/dragon/messageboards/generalDiscussion/modronsIn354ILoveYouGuys), including a post from the author. And dig the cover! http://paizo.com/image/product/catalog/WOC/WOC82354_500.jpeg |
| PunkRockBard03-07-07, 12:50 PM | Wow. i am truly a happy camper. This is what the Modrons deserve. |
| Andyr03-07-07, 02:09 PM | Excellent! I have recently started reading Dragon, largely due to articles mentioned on this very Deities/The Planes board... this cover means I'm probably going to be buying at least one more. :) |
