| Deophite1803-27-07, 04:42 PM | Ok , iv looked through the deity & demigods book and i didn't see anything about this. They went over just about everything EXCEPT this unless i missed it somehow. If a mortal ascends to godhood and becomes a deity does he get any stat bonuses and if so what does he get? If its in a book please tell me which one. |
| Deophite1803-28-07, 01:48 PM | Of all the places....i am shocked no one has the answer. Wow. |
| Ordbyrht03-28-07, 04:34 PM | In Deities and Demigods, Imhotep is the only deity statted as an ascended mortal. Though St. Cuthbert and perhaps a few others listed in the book are believed to be ascended, Imhotep was the only one statted as such. (The others have Outsider HD) So I will use him as an example. Imhotep's ability scores are Str 24, Dex 24, Con 24, Int 43, Wis 31, Cha 25. I don't know if WotC has confirmed this, but the general consensus seems to be that the deities have an ability score array of 35, 28, 25, 24, 24, 24. With the standard +1 to one ability score per 4 HD, plus a few miscellaneous ability score increases (+1 per divine rank may have been added as well), I would argue that Imhotep also uses the divine array. So from this, I would say that any mortal that ascends to godhood (demigod or higher, I wouldn't say that a being with a DvR 0 would qualify to use this array) will have his ability scores replaced by the divine array. . . . Sorry if this doesn't make too much sense, I'm leaving for work in a bit, and I wanted to get this post in. |

| Reign_of_Ice04-03-07, 03:14 AM | I always thought it was subtract 10 from an even number in the stat block and subtract 11 for an odd number, or am I completely outta my mind? |
| Ordbyrht04-03-07, 07:18 AM | I always thought it was subtract 10 from an even number in the stat block and subtract 11 for an odd number, or am I completely outta my mind? That's used to determine the ability score adjustments of an "average" creature. This can be used in the Monster Manuals, or any other stat block for a generic member of a species, on the monster entries because the statistics given are for an average member of that monster species. If used on a PC or a NPC whose ability scores were generated in some way, this would generate false adjustments. The gods are not average. Subtracting 10 or 11 from each gods ability scores will generate several conflicting score adjustments. |
