I have some questions about Forgotten Realms:
Descriptions of many deities are missing? (even though they are listed, the full descriptions are missing)
Why isn't Bahamut in the list? (good dragons, good reptiles, etc)
Other deities also seem to be missing?
Is the Mulhorandi pantheon the same as the Egyptian pantheon?
I don't see Ao mentioned here. Can a divine caster worship Ao? Can Ao be destroyed?
If afterlife is useless to you, would it help to not select a patron deity?

I think the posters over at the Forgotten Realms specific board "Magic, Deities & the Cosmos (http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=454)" might help you out.

I have some questions about Forgotten Realms:

Now, I'm no FR expert but I do think I can help you out on a few questions.

IV. Is the Mulhorandi pantheon the same as the Egyptian pantheon?
From what I've read, the Mulhorandi Pantheon is based on the Egyptian pantheon, but has some differences.

V. I don't see Ao mentioned here. Can a divine caster worship Ao? Can Ao be destroyed?
IIRC, Ao has erased the knowledge of his existence from the minds of mortals. No, you cannot really worship him, not of the "gain power" kind anyway.

VI. If afterlife is useless to you, would it help to not select a patron deity?

You have to select a patron deity or you are put into the Wall of the Faithless. From what I've read, this is because the FR gods are practicioners of Superdickery (http://www.superdickery.com/).

Why isn't Bahamut in the list? (good dragons, good reptiles, etc)

He's worshipped on Toril (FR), but he was initially left off of the list of FR gods by mistake or oversight.

Is the Mulhorandi pantheon the same as the Egyptian pantheon?

The Mulhorandi pantheon is the Egyptian pantheon worshipped in the wider D&D multiverse. Not all of them are worshipped in FR / some of them have relinquished a formal divine presence there, and some such as Ptah never established a presence there in the first place. Anubis had already transcended godhood to become the Guardian of Dead Gods well before his former pantheon began their interest in FR.

I don't see Ao mentioned here. Can a divine caster worship Ao?

You can worship him, but you gain nothing in return, he doesn't grant spells, and cares nothing for mortal worship.

Descriptions of many deities are missing?
This really isn't a question so much as a statement. Did you try Faiths and Pantheons (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/fracc/886430000)?

Why isn't Bahamut in the list?
Doesn't exist in Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting that I have ever seen.

Other deities also seem to be missing?
Again, not a question. Which deities in particular?

Is the Mulhorandi pantheon the same as the Egyptian pantheon?
It was before it came to Toril.

I don't see Ao mentioned here. Can a divine caster worship Ao?
Ao mentioned in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting pg. 264 where it talks about the Time of Troubles. Anyone can worship Ao and probably take Ao as their patron deity but Ao doesn't grant spells or answer prayers.

Can Ao be destroyed?
This is more of a "Can the Lady of Pain be destroyed?" type of question and should be asked in it's own thread so there can be a lengthy and pointless discussion about whether PCs should be allowed to muck with game mechanics.

If afterlife is useless to you, would it help to not select a patron deity?
In the Forgotten Realms, if you die with no patron deity you get built into the walls surrounding Kelemvor's realm where demons may later dig you out and make off with your soul.

Descriptions of many deities are missing? (even though they are listed, the full descriptions are missing)

There is information in older books like Faiths and Pantheons. Actual information on the realms is focused on Faerun, it very rare you see information on other places like Maztica (even info of the Mulhorandi in Faerun is scarce).

Also, the Realms lore is feed by novels.

Why isn't Bahamut in the list? (good dragons, good reptiles, etc)

Check out Dragons of Faerun, there some info on him.

He is worshipped in Chessenta under the alias of Xymor. He is a lesser deity and is not a full power like in Greyhawk.

Other deities also seem to be missing?

FR has its own gods. Some don't share worshippers in WotC modules (Shemeska maybe could introduce you to Zinzerena).

Is the Mulhorandi pantheon the same as the Egyptian pantheon?

Sort of, my memory is not good right now (is a little late); check out LEoF, Mulhorandi are egyptians brought to Toril by the Imaskar as slaves and they had a powerful god-king named Unther that only allowed cult for himself, but he got killed (in a fight with Tiamat I think). After his death, Imaskari fleed to the Underdark and the egyptians gods were invited by Ao to take part in a new pantheon in the realms. There is a weird rule that they cannot get worshippers outside their land (portfolios get in conflict with local gods take the Sun domain as an example, Horus-Re vs Lathander).

Outside of that:
- Set killed Osyris, he becomes an outcast god and Horus rises to take his father's position.
- Anubis decided not to become a member of the pantheon.

I don't see Ao mentioned here. Can a divine caster worship Ao? Can Ao be destroyed?

There isn't a lot of information in overdeities. D&D is usually focused in games of 1 - 20 levels. That and discussions about Drizzt :) .

If afterlife is useless to you, would it help to not select a patron deity?

That would be a personal preference.

Neither Bahamut or Xymor have ever been mentioned in relation to Chessenta. Not that they don't exist there, mind you, but they have very little presence there. Their presence is mainly in the Bloodstone Lands.

Tchazzar is worshipped in Chessenta, but he is a dragon quasi-deity in service to Tiamat. Tiamat herself is mainly worshipped in Unther.
