| Bolithio07-24-07, 09:48 AM | Do i understand this correctly? From the material plane I can get to the astral, ethereal, and shadow planes. From the astral plane I can get to one of the inner or outer planes. I can not go from an outer plane to an inner plane (or vice-versa) without passing through the astral plane. Is this correct? And do the ethereal or shadow planes exist anywhere besides within the material plane? Thanks! |

| 42007-27-07, 05:31 PM | I'll assume this is 3/3.5 Edition rules. From the material plane I can get to the astral, ethereal, and shadow planes. Using specific spells, correct. From the astral plane I can get to one of the inner or outer planes. You can reach any other plane, including Ethereal, Shadow and some Demiplanes through Astral Color Pools. I can not go from an outer plane to an inner plane (or vice-versa) without passing through the astral plane. Anything that connects two planes, such as spells, portals and ethereal curtains, creates an "Astral Conduit" through the Astral Plane. Sort of like an olde timey phone switchboard. And do the ethereal or shadow planes exist anywhere besides within the material plane? The Ethereal and Shadow planes connected to the Prime Material Plane don't touch the Inner or Outer planes, though a particular Inner or Outer plane may have it's own Ethereal and Shadow if the DM wants. This makes casting spells associated with those planes possible for instance. Thanks! This is correct. -420 |
