Hey everybody!

Here's a question I have been trying to find an answer to.

Is it possible to reject my current deity, which is Tempus, and then go over to Vhaeraun. Can this be done and how?

Thanks :)

as i read this you say that you worship Tempus and want to worship Vhaeraun instet(how do you spell that). if that is true nothing could be more easy, just stop praying to tempus and start praying to Vhaeraun.

How does someone go from worshipping to Tempus to worshipping Vhaeraun? Makes sense if you are a drow however.

Whats the story to this guy?

But yeah as vegetalss4 said, stop praying to Tempus and start praying to Vhaeraun

It's that easy huh? I thought that there would be some kind of D&D rule I'd have to follow or perhaps undergo a ritual to reject Tempus. All right, I must now inform my DM that I wish to join another clergy.

Thanks Vegetallss4! :)

Yes, I'm playing a drow that worshipped Tempus for many years after he came to the surface. Lets just say that now his blood is calling him to join his surface dwelling kin. :)

Officially, you can change patron deities at your whim, as explained above. However, if your character was a divine spellcaster (especially a cleric), his new patron, via your DM, may require him to go through an appropriate ritual or undertake a quest to regain his divinely granted spells and/or powers.

Yes, I just spoke with my DM of this and like you said, he will be requiring me to complete a quest or endure a ritual. :)

i remember when my one clereic char changed to a worshiper of tiamat, the crossing was simple, all i needed to do was slay one dragon slayer and recieve the tatoo of tiamat on his forehead. granted this kinda cemented him into tiamats court but i didnt mind so much, plus my DM game me the option of placing tha tatoo anywhere, i was just one of those fanatic type players.

so i dont see why doing something along those lines wouldent be a problem, plus it would be cool. who knows, you might even get a cool weapon or something from the quest.

I once played in a campaign where a player was a druid of Silvanus, changed alignments and became a cleric of Pholtus.

Silvanus stripped him of all his druidic abilities and spell casting and he effectively started out as a 1st level cleric to Pholtus. (although he still had his HPs, non druidic feats and fighting prowess).
Ouch to say the least.

but the druidic powers come from nature, not a nature diety.

His powers came from Silvanus, the Green Man, the earth father and and deific embodiment of nature. Not a nebulous concept or ideal.
Each campaign determines things differently.

There's a sidebar in the Player's Handbook II on page 193 that covers this sort of thing.
