It's official (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=13009073&postcount=9), WotC thinks water is lame and can't kick it with earth, fire, and air. This might threaten the very existence of the Elemental Plane of Water itself. Ergo, I urge all sahuagin, merfolk, tritons, kuo-toa, sea elves, ixitxachitl, marids, water elementals, and locathah to put aside their differences to defend their native element.

We will teach these... coastal wizards the true power of water together. We will not allow the Elemental Plane of Water to perish into obscurity. :fight!:

Quickly, gather the alternative punks bands. There's a benefit concert to be held!

Maybe the Quasielemental Plane of Salt finally absorbed the Elemental Plane of Water. WotC should never have employed those Facets.

Psh. Water's never done me any good. I can't even go there without massacring a whole host of elementals trying to "defend" their homeland.

Water is that wet stuff, right? I don't think I like it very much. Lava works just fine.

Lava is so toasty and warm, too.

I actually agree with Logan's post, there. Not on the fact that Water isn't interesting, but on the issue that designing things because they're missing (i.e. the boring line of Orb spells), rather than because they're interesting.

I agree on that point too, but a water magi could've been done with some real snap to it IMO. Sure, the water elemental is a real lemon with it's devastating ability to snuff out open flame, but water can be a powerful and horrific element.

I have yet to acquire the MMV, so I'll reserve the majority of my judgement. A triad of elements could be cool, depending on the background provided.

especially if you count ice magic as water magic.

I agree that things should not be made just because a perceived hole needs to be filled; that said, water is not a "boring" element and a water mage could well be interesting.

Think for a moment of all the havoc you could reap by being able to conjure water in the lungs of your foes or alter the delicate fluid balence in their cells, causing them to burst. Think also of the ability to become sentient water and flow into otherwise sealed places. . . Alas

I would use a orb of water spell if such a thing existed, even if it does no damage, or ray of water, doing no damage, even a spell to remove water from the caster's own body to fill a pool, I would use it. I would be more likely to use these spells rather than spells dealing damage.

We just need to define the elemental concept of "water" more broadly than the actual physical substance, water.

After all, cold damage in D&D is associated with the element of water, since water is supposed to be fire's direct opposite. A Water Magus should really be a Water/Ice Magus.

The best way to express your opinion on this is to come up with a really kickass Water Magus idea and prove them wrong.

Let's get the homebrew mages rolling! I would make one but I don't have the book, and frankly it disgusts me that they would leave out water. I mean, will they leave out healing spells in 4.0 because isn't not as exciting as the other spells?

PS. I'm making a call that on all future released Monster Manuals, we should always remind Wizards to "Include all four elementals, please."

If 3rd Edition is going to be so focused on only four elements as the fundamental substance of the Prime then they should at least treat those four elements equally in all respects.

And for those that doubt the power of water I suggest you search on the word "water" in the Spell Index (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/spells) and check out the spells that have it listed under School.

What's wrong with filling in the blanks? More options are good. Wasting splatbook space on them might not be, but I think that the D&D board should fill these blanks in.
