| Amnarii03-13-07, 03:45 AM | okay, I'm entering a game as a seafaring dwarven cleric. I am working on the background, and as part of it I need a deity to worship. I would like one associated with either the ocean, storms, or travel in general. I would like to have access to the strength domain and the travel domain, as well as storm and ocean domain s (may get a few extra domains through feats)... I tried to work with just worshiping the ocean as an entity so I could hand-pick domains, but the DM stopped that by deciding there would need to be a set list, which doesn't include strength or travel. Does anyone know of any deity in any wotc published material that would suit my desires? Thanks! |

Geshtai has Travel, with Plant and Water. Procan has Chaos, Storm, Travel and Water. Ishtishia has Destruction, Ocean, Storm, Travel and Water. He is the counterpart to Kossuth. Honestly, he sounds the closest to what you want, minus the Strength domain. All of the deities mentioned above can be found in Stormwrack. Other options include Aegir (Norse pantheon) who has Death, Destruction, Evil, Strength and Water. |

| ewancummins03-14-07, 04:20 PM | Here, I made one up for you to use: Jorum Titles: Storm Tamer , Stranger, Ocean's Child, Stronghand Home plane: None. Jorum travels the upper planes by sailing the mighty cross planar waters of the river Oceanus. His divine realm is his enormous cradle-ship. Power Level: Lesser Deity Alignment : NG Portfolio: Sailors, waterborne travel in general , physical might and prowess set against elemental or monstrous powers, orphans and foundlings , genasi of air and water origins , seacilff dwarves Domains: Ocean , Storm , Strength, Travel Holy Symbol: A ships wheel gripped by two hands, often in the form of a brass pendant [ the two hands are connected to the chain and hold the ship's wheel between them]. Favored Weapon: Gaff/Hook - a short haft with a sharp steel hook and point attached to the business end. Jorum carries one fashioned of adamantine and darkwood , made for him by a master smith of the seacilff dwarves [ or any tribe of dwarves living near the ocean- whatever fits your campaign best] . He has nicknamed the hook Sharkgutter . Appearance: A tall humanoid male with a lean , powerful build. His skin is deeply bronzed and his long hair and beard are bleached white by the sun. His eyes are sea green or gray, shifting colors as his mood changes. Jorum is typically depicted in religious art dressed in simple sailors' clothing. He is often accompanied by water wierds, sea birds, lightning quasi elementals, or genii. History : Jorum is a foundling god. His parents are said to be a being of the skies and one of the waters . Caught in between the two realms and abandoned on a magical cradle ship, he wanders the planes via the great river Oceanus. He is a mighty sailor who has overcome many foes and many dangers in his travels. His companions and heralds are elementals, birds, and sea creatures that travel with him. Dogma : Strive always to master your fate . Match your might and main against the forces of nature to test yourself and grow stronger by doing so . Travel the oceans and visit far countries, always looking for new wonders and new challenges. Never boast idly, but keep your oaths - even if made in your cups. Aid fellow travelers who are friendly and show respect. Do right by orphans, foundlings, and strangers . Death is the last harbor, to which all men go in the end. You might as well enjoy the trip. [ Sorry if this is a bit rough. Was working it out on the fly, except the cradle ship bit- I came up with that for another thread, a little ways back. ] |
| CantripN03-14-07, 04:31 PM | Why not Umberlee? |
| Ramrod_The_Wizard03-14-07, 08:22 PM | No Umberlee, go with Valkur. He is the god of you randomly screaming at a storm. Famous worshippers include Captain Ahab and Lieutenant Dan. |
