A catalclysm of fire and water, then Atlantis sank within the sea. They say you could hear the cries of the dead as the waves pounded and destroyed the island
-Cyronosos, epic bronze age bard

But was Atlantis lost?

Recent discoveries by some planar adventures show that Atlantis did not sink, only a section of it did and the rest went through a plane shift so horrible it is a miracle anything survied.

Modern Atlantis is constantly living in the horrors of its past, the gorge in marks it. However it has been successfully been rebuilt into a huge magical, technological, and natural megalopolis.

Within Atlantis is a huge planar rift to Avalon, a city slightly smaller than Atlantis but with a prctice of incarnum, psionic, and magic using priests and priestesses. A small island off the cost of Avalon is also included in the demiplane. These two planes coexist and go through phases which on the material plane appears to be the moon.

Atlantis is riniging with the sounds of astral skiffs and dolphins jumping in an out of pools. The adventurers who discovered it are just begining to sample its secrets. In other words this is Atlantis in a nutshell.

What wonders are being sampled in Atlantis!
The dolphin pools are all over Atlantis and it is considered completly normal for a dolphin to jump out of one and then into another, but I did not relize how magical it was until a dolphin jumped out of the pool and turned into an Azurin!

I confronted him saying, "Freind how did you do that; can you polymorph?"

He laughed and said,"The pools are imbued with magic. All one has to do is drop one gold piece in and dive in and you become a dolphin."

"Really?" I said skeptically.

He laughed again and said," Try it"

So I did as he said, droped in a gold piece and dove in and then low and behold, became a dolphin . Furthermore I discovered all the pools are linked by bright cheery water that leads me to conclude that Atlantis was built on water.

I asked a shopkeeper if that was true and he said," No that was the disaster. You see the waves came billowing over Atlantis and filled the upper levels of catacombs that are just below the surface. 2066 years ag wizards took advantage of that and cast a complex series of spells to make the water brighter and to turn anyone into a dolphin if they give one gold piece. It needs to be recast once per year."

The more I discover from this world the more I wonder.

I love it. That's the model contributors should follow for creating new planar locations. Too many people design new cosmologies (I'll even go so far as to blame WotC for the travesty that is the new FR cosmology) rather than expanding upon those previously established by years of work and published canon.

I especially appreciate the excerpt from the diarie, marvelously rendered to the extend that I now want to write this into my next campaign.

Balance.

Balance.

Balance.

The Atlantian triangle.

Technology, Magic, Nature. These three elements are nearly perfectly balanced in Atlantis. Yesterday I discovered something new. A wind mill that plays music powered by the wind. I am trying to learn the tune of the windmill so I can sing to it and make a little cash. I tired singing in the main square, but the guards caught me so I had to use my boots of teleportation.

Ah Atlantis

Sa'at the doing force was angry. He sent one of his minions, Crocnane to destroy all Atlantis. The people cried out to Ammu, the being force. She lessened the disaster of Atlantis and moved it to another plane. She then built the sun palace to ensure another great disaster like before would not happen again. People from the material plane frequently fall ito the sun palace and become a new prestige class: Incarnum warrior.

Prequisites:
Azurin, Human, Illumian, or half human.
No connection to Atlantis what so ever
Accidently have fallen through a planar rift to the sun palace.

The people of the sun palace are at the moment working on mortal/death cooporation. However, no matter what Ammu did for her people by building this guard against disaster, Oceanus grows restless.

Yesterday I met Antinua Liadon a good friend of mine. She came here with four friends, Quarrion, Quarrion(I really pity them, there mothers both named them common names) Enialas and Vandilla. Quarrion is the leader of a planar insignia, and is wondering if he can bring it here. Well Atlantis does owe him a debt, he just stopped a horde of assains coming here. The other Quarrion doesn't like magic. He went drazy when he saw the dolphin pools and got lost in the many alleyways of Atlantis.

The Odo Insignia (Lead by Quarrion Deathshot) has removed all the many gangs of thugs that have been dotting are streets. There is still contreversy on the methods however and many feel that the chieftan magic user shouldn't have burned them all to bits with magical fire. Of course thats an opinion. Some feel that the thugs were given democracy before this and refused it so this punishment was right for them. The mothers of the thugs want to skin the Odo Insignia alive.

Incarnum warrior:
Proficient with all weapons and armor. Not proficent with any sheild.
Hit die: 1d6
Skill points: 4 + int modifier

Incarnum dance:
At first level the incarnum warrior can invoke incarnum dance equal to his/her amount of essentia/day. When she invokes it she choses whether to imbue it with the energy of Ying or Yang. Ying is calming breath. If she choses to imbue it with Ying her enimies get -1 on all attack rolls saves, ect. If she invokes Yang, firey energy, her allies get +1 on all attack rolls. It costs essentia to do this. For every additional point of essentia spent you allies/enemies get an extr+1/-1 on their attack rolls saves ect. If invoked in a threatened square it provokes an attack of opportunity. One more thing: If you stop dancing the bonus stops, so the only attack you can use on your enemies while dancing is unarmed strike.

Still mind:
As the monks ability see Players Handbook

Compassionate grace:
As a free action an incarnum warior of third level or above can invoke compassionate grace. This can be used as one of these spell like abilities: charm person, sleep, or mage hand. You can use Compassionate grace 3 times per day and each time you must use it in a different one of the three spell like abilities.

Wild Talent:
At 5th level or higher you gain the feat wild talent as specified in the Expanded Psionics Handbook

Sa'at
At the begining of the world all was still and quiet. The gardeners had planted the garden that would become the planes and had sat back to rest. Then out of nothing the doer, Sa'at arose. This force was always creative, always looking for something to do, it knew no limits, and went beyond them. In his doing he created the Gods:
Bel, the sun, Oceanus, the ocean, Cybel, the bull god of the animals, and Atlas, the island that was Atlantis. But there was another force.

Ammu
Ammu arose at the same time as Sa'at and she was known as the Butterfly Maiden, or Ammu. She was the one who brought compassion and reason back to the world to the world when Sa'at had brought too much hatred or chaos. She was known as the being force. Over time she had 6 children who each took parts of her power. They are known as the Avatars because they came to earth, so likewise they were to the people of Atlantis. That is the atlantian pantheon.

And I almost forgot! Sa'at had a daughter too. She was called Rheia, and she is the Atlantean version of the god of secrets, Vecna.

Some more gods:

Hekate: Godess of the Moon

Leto: God of Technology

Theia: God of Nature

Hyperion: God of Magic

Creation tale
Sa'at traveled through the worlds and he saw many things. He saw the other races, and longed to create. He chose his favorites and made his own races in their image, but more attuned to the planes and slightly taller. An Atlantian character now can feel a planar rift as a tingling sensation in their heart. Sa'at then boasted to the other gods that his races were better, and made them angry. The sent plauge and drought to the Atlantian people, and refused to let it lift unless Sa'at apoligized. He refused, and the Atlantians suffered. Then three of Sa'ats creations turned against him. Hekate, Leto and Hyperion all protested and went in secret to the other gods and told them that the Atlantians were suffering and would they please remove the drought. They refused. Total Anarchy reigned in Atlantis. Then, for the first time Ammu showed herself. She appeared in a flash of light and convinced the gods to stop bickering. It was Ammu who saw that they were are all higher beings! They were all their children. Bragging and vengance was no way to solve things. She created the divine council where every single god, no matter how small met every quarter of a century. And it was good. But Sa'at saught vengance.

No one knows completly. It is certain their names are Janwa, Renzo, Corwin, Morwenna, Morosina, and Nia. They most rescent account is found in Seraphina Pekkala's diary where she says,"I was astounded to find the Avatars were children of about 12 years old, although they claimed to be many millenia old" but is it true?

Before reading this read the vocabulary below.

Once long ago, many peoples lived in the city Terra Tish Ooaka, the lost tears, although then it was called Firiaen, or joy. They lived in peace and harmony with all. One day a young elf called Skijor went to the forest of secrets, to receive the title of secret keeper. He was the beginning of the downfall. He took a left when he should have taken a right, and ran into a monster. In combat he slew it by chopping off each of his tentacles with a crystal of pure Sif. The monster exploded, except for its heart. Now here is where Skijor makes a grave mistake. If he had thrown the heart away, or better yet, disposed of it, things might not have been the way they are now. Instead he puts the heart on the crystal. The heart crystallizes and the two grow into a huge crystal one half black one half white. He returned home with the crystal. As soon as he arrived home, his sister’s first reaction should have told him to dispose of it. When she saw it she screamed and fell into a trance. She then cried

The age has ended
So a new begins
The everglades shall groan
As the age of blood descends
The stars shall fall and implode
As one sees sense and one sees hate
And death shall be our fate :evillaugh

When she came to she could remember nothing of her prophecy, except that the crystal was bad. She begged Skijor to dispose of it, but he might even then be already corrupted by its evil magic. Soon afterward everyone around Skijor began to act differently. They became selfish and hateful, but oddly not to Skijor. They treated him differently, more kindly, and Skijor thought he had power over the people. One year later Skijor was elected king. He changed democracy to dictatorship, and rearranged the peaceful inhabitants to a professional planar army. He wanted to rule every plane. When Selina, that’s his sister, heard she ran to his palace and demanded to see him. The guards refused. She knocked them both out and ran into the throne room. It was then that Selina saw, her brother was mad; Corrupted by the sheer evil of the crystal. They had a fight and she managed to grab the crystal and attempt to break it. It broke in two, the white half and the dark half. She picked up the dark half and broke it into a thousand pieces. Enraged he sentenced her to death at dawn the next day. Fortunately, Selina had many supporters. In the night she was smuggled out of the palace by a guard impersonator, Seth. She then gathered up two of every race here and took them away on skyskiffs. She was never seen again. However she left the white crystal behind, and told only her son how to get to it. The black shattered crystal was divided up among each citizen. That was 3036 years ago. Skijors great empire was shattered, however it is still powerful. Unfortunatly Selina's crystal was lost. Selina’s grandson knew the enemies would kill him. He hid the power in a place where he said the shattered dreams of a people live at the bottom of the sea. Atlantians are trying to find it.

Vocabulary:

Skyskiff: A skiff that runs on planar rifts and the skyscape(see below)

Sif: Pure water life force. On drop of it can keep a man alive for 3 days. Very few people know about it. If it comes in contact with water the water is instantly turned to Sif. Very few places on Atlantis have Sif. Sif can be crystalized. If you are a DM and want to add Atlantis into your campaign, think seriously before adding Sif to it.

Skyscape: The Skyscape is the rim of the Astral plane. in the day it is mist, but in the night it solidifies to form something you can ride on. Atlantians came to Atlantis by way of it, but now they have forgotten that they come from Terra Tish Ooaka.

Selina: Selina still lives on Atlantis today. She was granted 6000 years of life by Corellan Laurinthean. She experiments in science and magic, and has successfully created a race, the Lingelves.

Racial traits:
-Small. Ling elves are about 3' tall.
-Speed 20'. Although small Lingelves are quick.
- +4 dex, +2 cha, -2 con, -2 str
- +1 on all shots with longbow and shortbow.
-Commune with nature special ability(See spell)
- +1 on all saves against fear.
- +1 on all knowledge nature checks
- Favored class, druid

Skela: The monster Skijor fought was a Skela. The traits of a Skela are:

Hp: 8d12(48)
AB: +3/+3/+6/+6/
AC: 13, touch 12, flat footed 11
Dmg: 1d3/1d3/1d8/1d8
CR: 14
SA: Tentacle strike, heart corruption
Description:
This thing looks like a black octopus out of water. It makes a sound like an Allips Babbling. It has 4 tentacles, and the whole thing is blackly translucent.

Tentacle strike: A Skela can chose to strike out with it's tentacles and deal 1d3 to your cha(Fort save 17 negates)

Heart corruption: A skelas heart if held will corrupt the holder enough that he is under the dead skela's command. The skela can also channel power through its tentacles to control the victim(DC will 21 negates). If the victim remains in that state for 3 rounds he will become totally corrupted, nothing will undo it except for a wish spell caster level 41.
To stop a victim from becoming corrupted the others must kill the Skela.

Skyworm: A worm with three claws that inhabits the skyscape
Skyworm
Hp: 4 d20(40hp)
Base attack/grapple: +12/+6/+3/+10
Special attacks: Claw grip, Icy maw
Damage: 2d6/2d6/1d3 (Special 3d8 reflex save 17)
AC: 21 (+3 dex,+5 natural,+3 claw grip)
Alignment: Lawful Evil
Saves: Fort +10 Reflex+12 Will +8
CR: 11

Claw grip: All three claws cling to the skyscape in the night and can break through it easily. AS a free action a skyworm can flank any one being with two its claws.(Only if it's on the scyscape)

Icy Maw: Once per day as a full round action a skyworm can blow out an icy maw dealing 3d8 damage.(Refl 15 negates)

Forest of the white wolf:
When the settlers of Atlantis first saw the island they were captivated by its natural beauty. Atlantians have always loved nature. Even now there is cooperation between civilization and nature on the three islands of the Atlantian compact. Among the first settlers of Atlantis was the youngest ever elven ruathar. Her name was Selina. More than half of all the elves and humans of Atlantis descend from her, and she is known as mother of the Atlantian elves. She was captured by beauty when she first saw the forest of the white wolf. She named it the forest of the white wolf for her familiar Luna and presently settled down there. Now, being a Ruathar, 3000 years later she still lives in the forest of the white wolf. Most of the forest is gone, but much of it still stands in lush green gardens and in the park in that area. It is a place of retreat, where, if you are lucky, you can meet the lady. Strange humming and chanting noises can be heard coming from her house, and sometimes a strange burning smell. Strange tales are told about the people who live in the houses around her. They are all vague.

what is the size of a skela

The whole point is that this is from the settlers of Atlantis, the people who settled Atlantis, their old home. The size of a skela is large.

The Fair folk.

The Celtic D&D world found an odd sight. The "survivors" of Atlantis, those who thought the island was lost forever fled in fright. They went to a small island where the Celtic Druid- Bard doubed them "Fair folk". When creating a character, you can decide if you want him to be of the fair folk. If he is he gains the ability to sense planar rifts and 25% of their races life expectancy more in years.

Remaining of fair folk desent is the town of Yns Avallanch. This city is hustling and bustling with still desendants of the original fair folk. Tales of Atlantis have been passed on through the generations. A small city it thrives.

Tresswick is the key to entering Atlantis. Located on three falls (and is also known as three falls city) It was created as a merchent center, and is also the material plane coexistant of Atlantis. To enter Atlantis or leave it has to be within 5 days within either quarter moons.

The wellspring calls. The wellspring sings. All incarnum was gained from Atlantis. When a random rift shifted and Atlantis found a wellspring on a desolate barren plane. The wellspring is now gone of course, no one can find it. Some people speculate there are many wellsprings that tap together.

Avalon is coexistant to Atlantis and moves through fases like the moon. ON the full moon one can sail to Avalon. The closer it gets to the new moon it becomes harder to sail from one to the other until at the third quater, it becomes impossible. Avalon is only the size of a large city, but it holds among it's ranks the elite of all the Atlantians: the preists and preistesses. These people devote their lives to the gods and weild arcane, psionic, and incarnum. Because of the crypts and catacombs below Avalon an encounter in Avalon could be anything from a few skeletons up from their resting places, or an evil Tiefling who came through one of the many portals to Atlantis.

Atlantis is back \o/\o/\o/

what is avalon exactly?
Danvac

09-20-06, 08:48 PM
Avalon is another island, like Atlanits, but slightly smaller. It too is on another alternate plane. Instead of the huge shift that caused Atlantis to break free from the material plane, it gradualy shifted, until it vanished off the face of the material plane. Everyone, right now, I'm developing the Preist and Preistess of Ammu classes, hang in there.

Note: Avalon originates from a celtic myth, Afallon, a land of faery wonder. In an alternate campaign, Ammu can be adapted to the celtic mother goddess, Morrigan, and priest to an alternate druid with the Paladins smite evil abilities.

Great, Danvac. Playing in Atlantis is really fun. Just to include something that you invented as well, an Astral Skiff is basically a flying boat that uses the currents of the Astral Plane to move. As well, I believe that there should be a waterfall for each class, not just priests/priestesses.
