Devils are the makers of empires who are humanoid with monstrous features. Graz'zt is clearly a devil. He even has a tyranny ability that enables him to force others to do what he says. Sounds very lawful evil. This article deals with Graz'zt as a fallen devil. Birth of an Abomination It is doubtful that even the gods of the mind or chaos understand the mental processes of Pale Night. Her scheming is enigmatic and alien even to others of her kind. Only she knows her goals and how deep her plots run. Make no mistake, my fellow demonologists, she has a plan! Her plan is as old and as wicked as the Abyss itself. The most prominent of her machinations is the creation of her son, Graz'zt. For whatever unknowable reason, Pale Night has given lured a being of great power and evil to her and had him impregnate her. This is well known by many. Exactly who is the father is what eludes the scholars. Some say it was Gruumush, Malar, Tharizdun, Set, Talos, or the Abyss itself. One "scholar" claimed it was Cyric who through his essence back in time during his madness to do the deed. They are all wrong. It was Asmodeous. The Lord of the Nine is the father and by this fact is Graz'zt a baatezu and a lord of the Nine Hells. This is the story of how a devil falls from grace and the eternal lure of the Abyss. | Naderion04-13-08, 05:27 PM | I think one of the most intriguing aspects of Graz'zt always was, that he appears as a devil from the outside, but is a demon inside. Like "the calm before the storm" or "silent waters are deep", and such. But in 4th Ed. that would probably be even more difficult to realize. |
