| Rania04-07-08, 02:08 PM | I don't remember too much about the Negative plane, so I'm just going to post the SRD's thing about the Death Ward spell, as I know it'll be referenced. Death Ward Necromancy Level: Clr 4, Death 4, Drd 5, Pal 4 Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Touch Target: Living creature touched Duration: 1 min./level Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless) Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless) The subject is immune to all death spells, magical death effects, energy drain, and any negative energy effects. This spell doesn’t remove negative levels that the subject has already gained, nor does it affect the saving throw necessary 24 hours after gaining a negative level. Death ward does not protect against other sorts of attacks even if those attacks might be lethal. |
| Shemeska the Marauder04-07-08, 02:29 PM | Normal matter is slowly obliterated on the Neg Energy Plane, but for magical items like that weapon, I'd have the deterioration occur at a much slower rate. If they didn't recover it till after a combat for instance, it might have a slight dulling of its sheen, but otherwise it would be fine IMO. That death ward wouldn't help it once it was dropped by the person who had the protective spell on them. |
| Bujio04-11-08, 03:43 PM | I like Shemeska's answer. I would go further to say that it would eat away at the magic of the sword before it would eat the sword itself, because the magic would protect the sword. It's like tearing down the walls before you eat the people inside. It just makes sense. So after so long, a +3 sword would become +2, +2 would become +1, +1 would lose it's magic bonus and be eaten straight away. |
