In the bastion of soul (Magic of Incarnum), there is a large vortex of soul called The Node. THEORICALLY, what would happen if somebody absorb its power? By absorbing, i mean merging whit it!

Would he become a god?

Well, I talked it over whit some friends. Whit their help, I determined that, whit enough willpower, you could, ineed, merge whit The Node. You whit me?

I think it would be more along the lines of either having to replace it with him self or watching as the world is plauged by soulless births because no new souls are being grown or having all the gods kill him and forcibly tear the energy out of his soul and back into the vortex along with his soul causing it to get torn appart to feed the crystal trees that souls grow from.

A villain did something similar in one of my campaigns, but it basically tore him into many many pieces, which have since found their way into newborn souls as a kind of taint.

The Node after all is Heavy Incarnum, so any biological matter that manages to get in is going to be completely overpowered, like spending a year in the Positive Energy Plane in a few seconds.

I don't know anything about Incarnum, to be honest.

however, judging by what you've all said, is the Node anything like the Bastion of Souls? The place where all the souls in the universe come from, and return to after death?

If you're asking what would happen if you absorbed that power... then I suggest you look at the old 3e module "Bastion of Broken Souls" where Ashardalon (yeah, that Ashardalon) pretty much does that, and the PCs are sent to kill him and allow souls to be born again.

I think that the events that would follow someone merging with this Node would be much like what happened with magic in the Forgotten Realms setting when the Netherese mage Karsus killed Mystra and attempted to become the new god of magic. All the magic in the world stopped. Karsus realized the consequences of his actions and if memory serves he committed suicide. The abscence of magic was probably only a few minutes tops, but that was enough to cause untold devastation as the great flying cities of Netheril tumbled from the heavens and crashed into the newly made Anauroch desert. The consequences of having basically all the Incarnum in the world absorbed by an individual would probably have more cosmologically significant consequences, like the above-mentioned problem of people being born without souls, or perhaps forcing souls to linger on as ghosts because the conduit to the afterlife (in this case, the Node) has been disabled. I'd imagine that the gods would become involved if a situation like this presented itself.
