| Rania04-04-08, 11:24 AM | But hey, if you can pull it off, you could worship your shoe and it would grant you divine powers. I suggest giving it the Protection and Travel domains, and the favored weapon of Steel Toed Boot (a steel gauntlet in the form of a shoe). All hail the Almighty Shoe! The above quote is talking about the Eberron setting, and you'll have to read the whole thread to fully understand it. But, saying somebody actually managed to worship their shoes with enough fervour to take levels in cleric (my shoes), what other domains would it have? |
| Naderion04-04-08, 01:15 PM | Depends mostly on what its followers see in that shoe. |
| Rania04-04-08, 04:11 PM | Maybe just shoes in general; what domains would fit? |
| darkneolink04-06-08, 02:30 AM | travel domain is a must maybe chaos |
| Michaelk04-06-08, 12:48 PM | Forsake the shoe. Follow the gourd. |
| Kain_Darkwind04-06-08, 01:58 PM | Travel and Protection, naturally. From the Spell Compendium, I would suggest Celerity, Portal and Trade. If your shoes are Nike or such, possibly Competition and Glory. Or within certain impoverished circles, Envy, Greed and Wealth. And if you want to honor the Shoemaker, Craft and Creation. |
| beepaladin04-07-08, 01:06 AM | I know I worship my shoes ;) In referencing truly well made, fashionable shoes (Say like, Christian Louboutin pumps). Maybe the Beauty domain (d20 ultimate divine spellbook), Charm (FRCS), Pleasure (BoED), and Travel. If only there were a fashion domain ( ;) ) If you want to be provacative, I'd suggest pain (bovd) or perversion (boef) I don't know if I innately see shoes as embracing any alignment, chaos doesn't exactly make sense. This is my kinda dnd. |
| Rania04-07-08, 11:24 AM | So maybe the shoes could be TN, but their clerics could be any alignment? I remember some stuff in Faerun about that (don't care too much for the setting, but there are a few interesting things in the sourcebooks). |
| Edymnion04-07-08, 01:30 PM | IMO, since you got this idea from me in the first place, the domains would need to reflect *ALL* shoes, the very basic underlying functions that make a shoe a shoe. What is that underlying function? To protect the feet from harsh terrain and climates. Protection is obvious, thats pretty much the definition of what a shoe does. Travel is obvious, because once you put your shoes on, the first thing you do in them is walk somewhere. The next major area to hit would be work. There is almost no physical job you can do that doesn't require protective footwear. Next one up would, IMO, be craftsmanship. The shoemaker is always an important person in the community, and fashion still comes back to something being well made in the first place. A poorly made shoe is a bane to the wearer, while a well made pair is likely to be someone's most prized possession, if they realize it or not. Then, I'd round it off with madness. I mean, you *ARE* worshiping your freaking shoes, you know. I don't care who you are, thats just crazy. :D |

| X0_Lt_0X04-07-08, 05:21 PM | Or Pelor Its true. Me and my lot are insane... |
| beepaladin04-07-08, 07:10 PM | Or Pelor I love this thread. :cookie: :cookie: So much cookies for Rania and darkneolink. And Endymnion, I'd strongly object that it would need to cover ALL shoes. Someone worshipping practical shoes would be very ambivalent to fashionable shoes that aren't comfortable to wear. Sort of the "no more heels in the dungeon" practicality. Whereas someone worshiping fashion is going to shudder at dull, practical shoes. It's like saying "Corellon Larethian is the god of all elves (.....except dark elves)" A drow and a sun elf are both elves. but Corellon's portfolio's only going to cover one of them. |
| zaku41k04-07-08, 11:33 PM | Is there such thing as "Stinky" domain? If not, well Travel, Protection, Evil (if they're too small), and maybe Water (if the shoes are wet). |
| Tombelmore04-08-08, 01:15 AM | What about the earth domain? Shoe obviously has power over the crusty mud and dirt stuck to its sole. |
| Kain_Darkwind04-08-08, 02:28 AM | Is there such thing as "Stinky" domain? If not, well Travel, Protection, Evil (if they're too small), and maybe Water (if the shoes are wet). The Pain and Suffering domains work better if they are too small. |
| Rania04-08-08, 02:39 PM | Mm, let's look at the SRD. Earth makes sense; same with Protection. Possibly Strength. Travel, definitely. I know there's some more domains that might fit, but they aren't in the SRD. |

| Filurmanden04-13-08, 11:51 AM | Forsake the shoe. Follow the gourd. That is so right!! |
| Rania04-14-08, 03:41 PM | My cleric will now pray to the Blessed Imelda Marcos, Patron Saint of Footwear. Her mantra: "I'll take one in every color." *snort* |

| spectralphoenix04-14-08, 10:10 PM | I'm pretty sure anyone who can genuinely believe his shoes are a deity doesn't have the wisdom to be casting clerical domain spells in the first place. |
| DebiHuman04-14-08, 11:21 PM | I'm pretty sure anyone who can genuinely believe his shoes are a deity doesn't have the wisdom to be casting clerical domain spells in the first place. That was why Fashionistas get the the wealth domain. More money = more shoes. It's ALL about the shoes! What not even a snicker? You people are just no fun at all. :raincloud Debby |
| AtsuiShoto04-14-08, 11:22 PM | A good will save for those who worship shoes? Surely you jest. |
| DebiHuman04-14-08, 11:29 PM | Surely you jest. But of course! :D And because I simply couldn't resist -- I present a New Feat The Devil Wears Prada [General] Prerequisite: Must be an Acolyte of Blessed Imelda Marcos Special: You gain a +2 Attack Bonus and +2 Armor Class bonus when fighting evil outsiders. EDIT: Another New Feat These Boots Were Made For Walking [General] Prerequisite: Must be an Acolyte of Blessed Imelda Marcos Normal: You can walk 8 hours a day Benefit: You can walk an extra 4 hours a day before needing to make a Constitution check (see rules on Forced March). |
| Rania04-15-08, 01:05 PM | Here's how you worships shoes......How many skill points do they get? |
| DebiHuman04-15-08, 01:18 PM | How many skill points do they get? Darn it. It figures I'd leave something out. Skill points = 2+Int modifier. Anything else I missed? Debby Edit: FYI, the Wealth Domain is from the Spell Compendium. It gives Appraise as as class skill to the cleric so I added it under skills and updated to show the skill points. |
| faghter_hero04-15-08, 04:53 PM | Can't wait for the holy wars between shoe and sandal worshipers. |
| keelsc04-19-08, 02:02 PM | i see this as a lucrative pursuit, i might enjoy worshiping my shoes. i will begin now! |
