Cleaning up a closet full of old gaming books and hit up with some nostalgia. If anyone remembers this setting, module giving rules for the immortals. Has anyone converted them to 3.5/3.0 settings. Granted they are as powerful as gods so I figured here would be as good a place as any to ask.

WotI is in the Mystara setting, so you can look through the Other Settings section of Wizards, or just google "Mystara." I don't know if anyone has made full conversions of the immortals, but I know you can find information on portfolios, cleric domains, preferred weapons, and other background material. Sorry I don't have any links, though.

I don't know, but in my game I would just make it a template. A creature with the Immortal template would have regeneration, they'd stop aging and in order to kill them, they have to be dying and then recieve 10 points of slashing damage. Not quite sure how the Quickening would work though.

The other immortal gains there feats and skill ranks. That would probably be the easiest way to do it.

That looks okay, but what if it's a feat they already have? Unless the feat can be taken multiple times it wouldn't work. What about a skill that they already have maxxed? And I think such a system would probably result in ubercharacters with just one Quickening, considering that they'd get all their feats and skill ranks. Now I'm getting the crazy idea of making a Watcher prestige class! Thanks a lot!:P

Your welcome. Also while it would make ubercharacters the quickening is all the other immortals knowledge and skills, most likely meaning fighting skills. Skill ranks and feats measure just that.

*sigh* I'm guessing some things just don't translate that well into a balanced D&D concept.:(

Well you could always add some kind of restriction. Maybe they can't level up on there own anymore and have to kill other immortals to gain more class levels.

What would be the point then, if they don't gain experience the regular way? They'd be outclassed btweeen Quickenings by other characters that level up regularly until their next Quickening.

'Well you could make each quickening an instant level up no matter how much experience is needed. No wait that wouldn't work that would put the MacLeods at level 100.

Ok I think we derailed this thread enough.

hehe I think we are getting our Immortals mixed up.

I was inquiring about immortals from the box set game. These immortals where once human/mortals who gained powers. Under the old systems they had a hierarchy, and power points. They could spend the power points either temporarily or permanently. This was truly very high level D&D, what players were supposed to do AFTER level 36 (the old cap). Things that could be done include crafting artifacts, creating new races (too worship you to gain more power) creating your own plane.

I think the immortals where organized by different spheres, time, mater, mind, entropy, and something else.

I think people are debating the Highlander type, take the head immortals, which is also interesting! :)

It's not quite WotI, but try this for starters: Immortality (http://www.immortalshandbook.com). There will be a book called Ascension coming out that deals with it. The whole site is dedicated to beyond-epic play.

What I would do is make the immortality quest grant DvR 0 at level 36. They gain no xp for the quest, which should take several sessions to complete. After that, they must gain divine ranks by gaining worshipers or absorbing portfolios from other deities. They gain SDA's according to the normal rules for divinity. They also gain a hefty level adjustment (dependent on DvR and hit dice) for having divine ranks. Furthermore, they have a portfolio that the DM must ensure the player pays attention to.

The Dragon Ascendant PrC is one theme. Just make immortality something that occurs after some series of steps is taken. In a magical world, that would likely be some ritual. In a naturalistic world, it would be a series of medical inventions.

The Endless template from Dragon Magazine (April 2007), is a good, balanced way to have a sort of pseudo-immortality. It's more like eternal youth than actual immortality though, so it might not be what you're looking for.
