| rikimaru7504-26-07, 03:07 PM | As we all know, Amulet of Mighty Fistsm +X improves a person's unarmed attack and their natural weaponry, making it very useful for both druids and monks. The question that I have is what happens to the amulet of mighty fists when a druid wildshapes into something that cannot use an amulet. While I could picture a dire bear with an amulet of mighty fists around its neck, what about a plant such as a tendriculos? Does the druid get the magical attack bonus from the amulet of mighty fists in this form or would it just not count since the equipment melds with his stuff? Right now, being the way i've ruled it in my campaign, if the new form cannot utilize the enhancement benefits of the item(s) equipment (such as a gloves of dex +x not working with a wildshape ooze [using a master of many forms as an example]), then the benefit is not received and 'suppressed' in the new form. I just wanted another ruling regarding this and get opinions. Thanks again. |

If you are going by what the PHB says, well I'm afraid it doesn't say that any more. The Wildshape rules were errataed in February 2006; you will need the errata files or refer to an online SRD (not the one Wizards supply - a third party one). If an item is melded into the druids new form, it becomes nonfucntional and the Druid loses all benefits. If the Druid can wear the item (say by taking it off before transforming then having it put on again) then the Druid gains the benefits. |

| runestar04-27-07, 03:44 AM | As previously mentioned, the druid can remove the amulet prior to wildshaping, then have someone else put it on for him. I am quite sure that except for magic weapons/armour, your magic gear automatically resizes to fit its new form. This means that plants can use rings, amulets, belts, cloaks, even boots etc. It would look weird, but I do not think there is anything in the rules explicitly prohibiting this.:) |

Look at all the gifts Santa left us under the tree. *Swipe* *Pilfer* *Filch* *Run* :P |
| Kadrimdorian_Mage04-28-07, 09:18 AM | I thought that the point of wildshape was to Not Need these items to get a power boost. If they need these items to acually get more powerfull than them in their human form, cut back on the power boosting items. |
| runestar04-28-07, 10:11 AM | You are more powerful in wildshape. Just that those items make you even more powerful...:D |
| rikimaru7504-30-07, 09:03 AM | You are more powerful in wildshape. Just that those items make you even more powerful...:D The reason why I brought up this topic is that when looking at 'recommended loot' in the back of PHBII, it mentioned Amulet of Mighty Fists for Druids (as well as Monks btw). And after looking it up in my DMG, I noticed that it added those magical bonuses to unarmed strikes and natural weapon attacks. However, knowing the rules of Wild Shape (seeing my most recent post..."My PCs made me tap."), it just seems to wipe away any benefit it would provide to the user when going into wildshape mode. Seeing how Wizards put this under recommended loot for Druids, you would think this amulet would have some sort of wilding feature appended to it, so unless an errata says otherwise, I suppose it's all moot. |
| Witch04-30-07, 09:09 AM | Wildshape first, put amulet on afterwards. It's that easy. |
| rikimaru7505-02-07, 12:42 AM | I just noticed those errata changes to wildshape. That really seems to hose the Master of Many Forms, honestly. If they wild shape giant, then unless any of their gear is wilding, it would meld with them...leaving a naked giant in their midsts. Weird... |

Weird... Forget giants, you'd change to a naked humanoid too if you try to disguise yourself as an elf or something. That quickly became a houserule for the MoMF I was playing when the polymorph errata was released. |
| rikimaru7505-02-07, 04:28 PM | What does this do for unwearable items such as Ioun Stones. I'd assume that they'd be floating around their heads regardless of their forms. Also, can anyone give me a direct link to the polymorph errata? I want to add it directly to me DM screen. |
| Merestil Haye05-03-07, 04:47 AM | The errata for Wildshape is in the errata page on the D&D website (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a). Either that or read one of the online SRDs (d20SRD.org) which actually make an effort to keep the content updated with errata. There are no errata on the Polymorph spell. The rules of the Polymorph subschool are here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20060501a&page=5). They don't change Polymorph's text at all though. |
