Bane and Earth Creatures [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-20-07, 10:18 PM Skybow. In the description it says "this is a +2 Longbow with bane enhancement to Earth Creatures" My question is, Does the bane make the bow a +4 against Earth Creatures? AND what does "Earth Creatures" include?

06-20-07, 10:28 PM It would be +4 (with an extra 2d6 damage) against earth creatures. I assume that earth creatures includes all creatures with the [earth] subtype.

06-20-07, 10:31 PM Well, it would have to be outsider (earth) per the bane list, and it would be a +4 that does an extra +2d6.. though, theres only 14 monsters in the index that are outsider (earth), so seems pretty weak imo.

06-20-07, 10:33 PM If it was Outsiders (Earth), then why not state that instead of Earth Creatures. Earth creatures is not in the table for bane, but Outsiders (Earth) is.

Elementals are applied as an entire group, which is why I assumed Outsider. Its the only available bane that specificly mentions "earth". And since you cant have a bane thats not on the list AFAIK, its going to be that one.

That said, you can attempt to reverse engineer the price. If the price seems higher then a regular bane enchantment on a +2 weapon, then its all creatures with the (earth) subtype, if its cheaper then a regular bane enchantment, then its elemental (earth), since elemental bane is not normally that restricted.

And finally, as a DM, you decide.

This assumes that specific magic items have to have properties bought from the lists. This is not a good assumption.

It's about as useful as Ki Strike (lawful) for monks, playing only Core.
