You would threaten the space two squares in front of you because you threaten any square into which you can make a melee attack. However, the opponent in that square has cover... To determine whether your target has cover from your ranged attack, choose a corner of your square. If any line from this corner to any corner of the target’s square passes through a square or border that blocks line of effect or provides cover, or through a square occupied by a creature, the target has cover (+4 to AC).... When making a melee attack against a target that isn’t adjacent to you (such as with a reach weapon), use the rules for determining cover from ranged attacks. Similarly, does the Adaptable Flanker feat from Player's Handbook II allow a Large creature to get flanking bonuses by himself (against Medium creatures)? I don't have the book, so I can't help you here. Sorry.:)
DreadArchon 03-20-07, 03:46 PM	Oh, sorry: As a Swift action, you designate a single opponent as the target of this feat. When you are adjacent to the chosen target, you can choose to count as occupying any other square you threaten for purposes of determining flanking bonuses for you and your allies. You also occupy your current square for flanking an opponent. I'm pretty sure that that would let a Large creature flank a Medium foe by himself, but I wanted to check and make sure that I wasn't missing anything obvious that prevents it.
Marcus Majarra 03-20-07, 05:02 PM	You cannot flank by yourself. You can only flank when you have an ally threatening your opponent from an eligible square. And no, you do not count as an ally. I believe the Sage addressed this issue a few weeks back.
