Does the Armour Bonus from Bracers of Armour stack with other armour bonuses (e.g. from a Mithril Shirt)?

Cheers!

No, they do not.

Okay thanks! The +1 bracers seem a little pointless then :)

Not to a 4th level wizard who can afford nothing else.

Some people prefer to use a wizard without armor, and for one who wants to trade gold in exchange for not using a spell slot every day, Bracers of Armor replace the Mage Armor spell.

Both provide an "armor" bonus to AC and thus do not stack.

That does not mean there is no reason to use Bracers with regular armor however. Just because they don't stack doesn't mean the aren't both active. A Mithral Shirt may provide a better basic AC but if dealing with Incorporeal attacks that AC is worthless while the AC from a set of Bracers still works against those attacks.

True. They're also useful for the heavy-armored characters to use while they sleep (unless they have the restful crystal from the MIC).

Useful also at higher levels when you've got enough wealth to support it, but bracers are good for when wearing suits of armor would be a faux pas. Um, no sorry, the guards for the party aren't going to let you in wearing your +4 Spiked Full Plate armor, nuh uh.

Okay thanks! The +1 bracers seem a little pointless then :)If the DM lets you add special armor abilities to them, they can be good. Use them for that, and just cast (Greater) Mage Armor for your actual armor bonus. Mithril bucklers are nice for adding special abilities to, also.
