One would assume it would be limited, but I am not sure how infrequent his usage of the ability should be. Specifically, I have a party who wants to contact the Elemental Plane of Air. They are not high enough level for a plane shift, yet, so when I discovered the spell-like ability, I decided that would make an appropriate means of allowing the party to contact the plane. Specifically, they are looking for an Elder Arrowhawk feather for a spell component... Anyway, details aside, anyone have any ideas?
