| spikevampire06-25-07, 06:02 AM | I hope the topic is grammatically correct, but don't matter about it... instead, someone can tell me how cast spell in a way that no one could see me? I think about still and silent spell could work with some spell like charm, without viusal effect, but what i can do with a fireball? thanks a lot |
| Leilond06-25-07, 06:07 AM | Casting a silent/immobile/no material spell do not mean people don't recognize you're casting a spell. You've to concentrate still provoke AoO. |
| itwasntme06-25-07, 06:21 AM | People still know that Spells are casted on them even if they do not know where However something like FireBall is not very differcult to know who casted it A Small fireball type thing is shot away from YOU in other words even though your not moveing or saying anything, can determin that the fireball came from your General Direction and could possibly guess its you Even if you dont say anything or act Surpicus people may just attack you An Example was when a Psionic character was trying to charm a creature and there where 3 other characters there the creature saved and as a Free action he asked "Who just casted a spell on me?" Eveyone went not me i cant cast spells (Barbian WarBlade Psionic and Fighter The Cleric was off at the Inn sleeping) The Creature kinda knew the Fighter WarBlade and Barbian couldnt realy cast it and beleved them with there answers however he again had to make another saveing though (Made it) He Then looked at the Psionic and asked "Why are you not saying anything?" The Psionic looked at him and went "It wasnt me ..." Even though the Creature had to make another Saveing Though and again Made it He Got mad and decided to attack the party Even though it might not be them JUST IN CASE It turned up where eveyone but the Fighter was dead and the fighter had to carry the psion and WarBlade and Barbian back over to the Cleric where they just kinda decided to say "**** the Psionic character we cant raise dead lets just look them and move on" Something with Charm yes you can in some ways cast a spell and have people know its not you ... right away however no matter what people will suspect something is going on by the purefact that a Saving Though or something eather a funny feeling or w/e happined to them and a good thought of mind is "Someone just casted a spell on me or something like that" And will investergate something like FireBall they can just see where it came from (The Fireball came from behind me so who is behind me? OH only one person that i can see so its eather him or someone invisible!) thats the clousest your going to get |
| Pegasos98906-25-07, 07:14 AM | Even with still spell and silent spell you still need to concentrate on casting. This however takes only about 2-3 seconds during which you can't do anything complex (like speak) but can look normal so in most cases, people wouldn't notice you casting stilled and silenced charm person. Fireball... "A glowing, pea-sized bead streaks from the pointing digit and, unless it impacts upon a material body or solid barrier prior to attaining the prescribed range, blossoms into the fireball at that point." So people can notice (Though that would not be certain, pea is not really big and if people have no reason to look at you...) when the bead travels from you to the blast. However, Cityscape has two metamagic feats. Other allows you to make the spell invisible (so both the bead and blast would be invisible) and other to start from other source (so you can make the bead to streak from some innocent wizard's hands instead!) that might be what you are looking for. |
| spikevampire06-25-07, 09:08 AM | so if i cast a silent and still spell that create invisible effect like a charm or a message i have to concentrate for a standard action, so i cannot run or talk with someone but anyone seeing me can be sure that i cast a spell. If i cast a spell in the same way with ranged touch attack like scorching ray or a visible effect like fireball, i could be seen by someone looking me at the moment of casting. Don't look at english but at the meaning XD right? |
| Leilond06-25-07, 09:16 AM | Strictly by the rules you cannot cast a spell unseen. Obviously a good DM will surely require a "spot check" to see someone casting "immobile and silently" far from us, unless there's something that make people "aware of the presence of an hidden caster" that make all "alert" |
| Light_Colonel06-25-07, 12:20 PM | There are feats in Cityscape for that. One feat makes it look like you are not casting, the other feat makes your spell invisible. |
| Anathema06-25-07, 12:50 PM | There's a feat in Cityscape called 'Deceptive Skill' that allows a spell effect to appear to come from somewhere other than the caster, the net effect being that nobody that was actively watching the caster may not know that they were casing a spell. |
| spikevampire06-25-07, 01:23 PM | thanks a lot!! XD |
| Anathema06-25-07, 01:59 PM | I just noticed there's a feat in the same book that makes your spell visuals invisible, but not their effects. I.E. a fireball will still explode, people with the appropriate skills (or active spells like true seeing) will know what happened, but the effect itself would be invisible. |
| pmurray@bigpond.com06-25-07, 10:50 PM | Isn't there a feat or skill trick that allows you to make a sleight of hand check? I think it's called "Concealed Casting". |
