Caster Level Added? [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-22-08, 05:09 PM Ugh, cannot even believe I'm asking this, but I want to be sure. Say I have a Sorcerer 16 who gains 17th level and takes Archmage (requirements assumed).

I know that he casts spells per day and knows spells as a Sorcerer 17... but is his caster level also increased to 17? (You know, for effects that depend on caster level, such as damage dice, duration, etc.)

What about other PrC's that add "Spells per Day/Spells Known" at a given level? Does that also add a +1 Caster Level?

A level of spells per day/spells known advancement also advances caster level unless it specifically says it does not (which, to my knowledge, has never been done before). You can easily advance CL without advancing spells per day/known, but generally advancing per day/known advances CL as well.
