Chastisise Spirits and Variant Turn Undead [Archive] - Wizards Community

The description says "hostile spirits", but the actual mechanic says all spirits. By the primary Vs secondary errata rule, the mechanical part overrides the description. So you will harm yourself. :(

Being good doesn't exempt undead from turning and like the spirit shaman you would effect yourself.

That's what I do. :)

To keep things on an even keel, though, an evil undead cleric can't bolster himself just as a good undead cleric can't turn himself with my houserule. Fair's fair.

10-29-07, 08:22 PM I wouldn't have a spirit shaman's chastise spirit ability affect himself. After all, at 20th level, his creature type changes to fey, which would make one of the class' most powerful abilities useless if you were to rule that chastise spirit affects the user.

10-30-07, 03:31 AM :heehee Looks like a prime candidate for rule 0. Instead of using the Rules As Written use the original intent and have it only affect hostile spirits.
