| Monstar02-14-08, 12:22 AM | So my party is composed of a Druid w/Dire bat companion, a Warlock and a Duskblade and they are being tracked by some Droaaman calvary while on their way out to Sylbaran. The best way I could think of to ground them for a day or so was to introduce some bad weather. I haven't used weather effects before and I am hoping for a few ideas to add to the encounter. So I've got a few questions. 1. Does the ranged attack penalty apply to spells? It seems to imply ammunition only, but I'm not sure if it stops there. 2. Does a windstorm change the damage dice for call lightning spells? 3. What kinds of debris could come rolling through the encounter? Keep in mind the terrain, no shingles or 2by4s. And what kind of damage could it do? 4. On the grid, I plan on having a few trees, light and heavy undergrowth, and probably some slopes. Any other ideas for the grid terrain and/or layout? Any additional thoughts would be appreciated. |

If you wanted to extend the range without the extend spell feat, id suggest it lose 1 dice of damage for X range past the max range. 2) I wouldn't think so. A windstorm is just wind. 3) It would depend on the speed of the wind. If your looking at say, 30 mph, i would say alot of small debris like soil, dust, sand, branches. The faster you go, the more and larger debris there is. 4) Id have some rocks or boulders for cover. maybe steams or small ponds, that type of thing. |
