Can swift actions be converted into any other type of action? For instance, a wizard is falling, and casts quickened Dimension Door to be safely on the ground. He has used all of his attack spells already, except for a quickened fireball that he had been saving. May he cast the quickened fireball as a move or standard action? This would violate the rule that states that he can only cast one quickened spell per round, but by sacrificing a move or standard action, this seems like it should be possible, although still might not be.

Gah.

I believe you can use a Standard action to take a second Swift action, when you've already used your Swift action for the round. But I'm not at all certain about that. Some things that are useable as a swift action are meant to be useable only once/round.

I'm also not sure if you can cast a prepared Metamagic spell 'without the metamagic' which'd be another way to accomplish the same thing, but might have implications of it's own.

Either way, as a DM, I'd be inclined to allow a caster to throw two Quickened spells, if he used a Standard Action to cast one of them. I'd be hesitant to extend that to any other Swift action or to other metamagic feats, though, regardless of which of the two rationales, above, the player was arguing.

It doesn't help that Swift actions aren't in the SRD...

I know you can make a move instead of a standard, but swift doesn't seem to be touched upon in the same manner in any source I'm looking at.

So by RAW, no. At the same time, that seems kind of silly to me, but that's just my opinion.

RAW-no

Other than that, it should be taken on a case by case basis if you want to house rule it. Like someone said, some swift actions are only meant to be used 1/round. In this case: I would allow it.

It doesn't help that Swift actions aren't in the SRD...They are (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/actionsInCombat.htm#swiftActions).

For what it's worth, I allow a player to use a standard action to do anything he could do as a swift action. (I reserve the right to refuse particular combinations of actions though.)

A swift action takes less time than a standard action, but not so little that you could do as many as you want.

If you have the time to do a standard action, you have time to do a swift one.
