Damage Reduction question... [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-15-07, 02:09 PM So I have a player that's a Half-Fiend with a DR 10/magic and an item that gives him DR 3/adamantine.
My question is, do the item and racial DR stack or no?

07-15-07, 02:22 PM No. He simply takes whichever one is more beneficial to him against the attack in question.

07-15-07, 03:03 PM To elaborate, if he's struck by an adamantine weapon it would bypass his DR 3/ adamantine but still be effected by the DR 10/magic. If he's hit by a magic weapon that's not adamantine it will bypass his DR 10/magic but still be effected by his DR 3/adamantine. If he's hit by a magical adamantine weapon then none of his DR applies.

07-15-07, 05:43 PM And if he's hit by a non magical, non adamantite weapon, he would substract 10 from the damage, not 13, since they don't stack.
