According to the description of detect scrying, Ralph and George would make opposed caster level checks in this scenario because the eye originated outside the range of detect scrying. I would assume this means Ralph would have some indication his scrying attempt was detected. Edit: Then again...:thinks: My reply above was based on the fact that a caster can generally sense when a spell is successful or when a target successfully resists a spell's effect per this... Succeeding on a Saving Throw: A creature that successfully saves against a spell that has no obvious physical effects feels a hostile force or a tingle, but cannot deduce the exact nature of the attack. Likewise, if a creature’s saving throw succeeds against a targeted spell you sense that the spell has failed. You do not sense when creatures succeed on saves against effect and area spells. The last sentence may be important here because both spells are either effect or area spells. As such, Ralph may not know his spell was detected.
