Disarm rules question [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-02-07, 03:50 AM Opposed Rolls. You and the defender make opposed attack rolls with your respective weapons.

Does that mean an opposed base attack roll, or an attack roll modified with weapon focus, strength/dex, etc?

08-02-07, 12:27 PM It's a normal attack roll with the weapon you're using for the disarm attempt.

For example, if you normally attack with a longsword at +8 (due to BAB +5, Str 14, and Weapon Focus), then you also disarm at +8.

The only other applicable modifiers are:

• -4 for using a light weapon
• +4 for using a weapon in two hands
• -4 for each size category below medium
• +4 for each size category above medium

It's not "wielding a weapon in two hands" that gets the +4 modifier, it's "wielding a two-handed weapon."

Remember that a two-handed weapon counts as an object of the same size as a creature it is sized for, while a one-handed weapon is one size smaller.

That seems to be a 3.0 thing. Do you have any text that says this for 3.5?That is the 3.5 rules. In 3.0 the sizing scale for weapons was independent of the size of the wielder. There's a 3.0 SRD here (http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd.html) - open the Weapons file and see for yourself. The Longsword is a Medium-sized weapon.

I'll try and locate the sizing reference. It may be in the FAQ.
