I have a few thoughts on this, using Cackle Fever infected twice within a 5 minute period: 1) The character is diseased - they cannot become more diseased. Two successful saves in a row indicates the character has fought off the disease. 2) The character is diseased twice - after the first incubation period, he takes 1d6 Wis, and no more than 5 minutes later the second incubation period ends, inflicting another 1d6 Wis. Two seperate saves are needed each day both infections are still active. 3) The disease time lengthens, but the infections overlap - After the incubation period, the character takes 1d6 Wis. The next day the character rolls a single fort save vs. the first infection or takes 1d6 Wis. Should the first infection be overcome with two successful saves in a row, the second infection takes hold the following day and two more successful saves in a row are required to fight that off. Which, if any, is correct? Also on a related note: how many diseased characters can a single character with the Heal skill treat at a time? If two characters were infected with Cackle Fever within a 5 minute period, would the healer be able to treat both? What if the infections were an hour apart? |

Once they have recovered, they're fair game again for that disease. Do note that multiple diseases(differing one's from each other), can infect at the same time. The healer is allowed to substitute his heal check for a failed fortitude save when the fortitude save is needed. So if the healer knows such and so is sick and is attending said ill person, when the save comes around, he can roll the heal in place of a failed fort. We(my group) allow that as long as the healer is aware of the sick people, and has been taking care of them, may make a substitution for all failed fort. saves. We enforce in-game knowledge of the person have succumbed(or infected) to a disease. No failing a save on contracting and then auto-heal care using that OOG knowledge. |
