I usually just churn them through the Various encounter calculators that are available and see what it gets me. It sounds cheesy, but it is relatively fast and gives ya a good idea of both the encounter level and the difficulty. I typically use -> http://www.d20srd.org/encounterCalculator.htm YMMV, -LN |

| StevenO02-25-07, 06:35 PM | Depending on how you want to define "fair" just working a single 3 on 3 encounter shouldn't be difficult. I'd assume you're just planning one fight, if you want an even fight (either side could win) select opponents with the same CR as the players. In a 4vs4 situation that should yield an EL=Level+4 which is a very difficult encounter. To improve the player's odds a little have the opponent's CR one lower than the player's level at which point the players should "win" but be severly depleted after the fight. |
