1. Would the market price of an elven chain +1 be 4150 gp + 1000 gp? Or is Elven Chain a special case?

2. What would the price of resizing a medium mithral shirt to a small one, and resizing prizes in general for that matter, be? I think I read about it somewhere, but cannot figure out where... This came up last night, and I only found the repair prize (1/5 of market price), so I used that one...
Would it be possible to "hand it in for magification" too? :D Or may you only give it magic properties when making it?

If you are buying a new set of +1 Elven Chain, it would be 5150 gp.

If you are adding a +1 enhancement to Elven Chain (since mithril is always masterwork, you may add a +1 enhancement to it), it would cost 1000 gp.

No, you do not need to craft magic into the original item. Magic may be added later (but only to masterwork items).

If the item is non-magical, there are no rules for resizing in the core rulebooks (as far as I have seen). Since it would be similar to a repair, I would say that is a good estimation. 1/5 of market price looks about right. On the other hand, if it is given a +1 bonus, the magic will allow it to automatically resize (if you play with automatic resizing magic items, as suggested in the DMG).

I think the automatic resizing was clarified in magic item compendium to not include weapons or armor, mostly just wonderous items, rings and such.
