| Positronica12-28-07, 02:30 PM | If a player is wearing an item that gives a continuous enhancement bonus to his INT, WIS, or CHA, does he get to include that bonus when figuring out bonus spells per day? |
| crow0412-28-07, 02:33 PM | yep. |
| Positronica12-28-07, 03:35 PM | yep. What happens if the player takes the item off after having prepared his spells? Does he lose the bonus slots, and if so, how does he pick which spells to lose, assuming he's a prepared spell caster? |

Does he lose the bonus slots, and if so, how does he pick which spells to lose, assuming he's a prepared spell caster? He loses spell slots. Yes. He picks. That's how I've always handled it anyway. |
| weasel012-29-07, 12:38 PM | Yes. Yes. Yes he can choose, but he must pick from the uncast spells. When he puts the item back on, he now has blank slots. **The previous sentance is MHO, and may very well be proven wrong or at least unsupportable. |

The spells these items are based on would seem to prohibit it, but the only things specifically addressed in the item descriptions are skill points. Yes, you can get extra bonus spells if you have an item that increases the ability score that governs your spellcasting. To get the extra bonus spells, you must wear the item while resting to regain spells and all through your initial daily preparations for spellcasting. (Even characters who don’t prepare spells need to meditate a little while at the beginning of the day; see Daily Readying of spells under the Sorcerers and bards section of Chapter 10 in the Player’s Handbook.) If you lose the item, you immediately lose the bonus spell slots the item gave you, starting with any uncast spells you have of the appropriate levels. |
