| uchiha283606-30-07, 06:14 AM | this one should be easy, I have just never run into it before and can't seem to find an answer. If a PC reaches a level where they can get both a bonus feat and a class feat (say a fighter feat for example) can they take a feat that has a prerequisite AND the prerequisite feat in the same level. for sake of simplicity lets say you have a PC that just reached level 6 fighter. can they take both mobility AND spring attack when they go up to level 6 fighter? Thanks in advance, and I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious here. |
| Heros_Backpack06-30-07, 08:07 AM | I'd be inclined to say that yes, you can. Tons of fighters take both Power Attack and Cleave at first level so why not Mobility and Spring Attack at 6th? |
| Pegasos98906-30-07, 08:52 AM | Yes, you can. I think a fighter with power attack and cleave is a good example, as is a human wizard with spell focus and greater spell focus on evocation. |
| keropie06-30-07, 10:15 AM | I'm sure that example is kosher, the only thing I'd wonder about is whether there's an order you have to choose your feats in. Meaning I'd wonder if you have to choose your level 6 feat before you choose your level 6 fighter bonus feat, or vice versa. But clearly in this case you'd be fine, as both feats are fighter bonus feats. |
| Mystic Lemur06-30-07, 12:37 PM | Well, you are allowed to pick your new character feats based on whether you meet the prerequisites at that level (i.e. a feat that requires base attack +6 can be taken at Ftr6), so it is reasonable to assume that when you level up, you have to pick things in the order in the PHB. |
| Nom07-01-07, 09:16 AM | PH pg 87 explicitly allows you to choose a feat at the same level as you gain the pre-req. So, yes, it is quite legal to choose a feat and its pre-req at the same level and for most purposes the order is moot. |
