Greetings one and all,

I figured that I might put it out here on this board as part of a thought continuation that I had on another.

Me and another DM were discussing how Fell Drain and Improved Energy drain synergize.

The description of the Fell Drain feat seems vague at best about how they work together. At the end of the previous discussion, it came clear that there was No clear consensus on it between us. He was arguing that the authors 'messed up' and that there is 'no synergy', regardless of what is written within the feat. I argued that the feat as written allowed for it. I could understand his position though and still am confused and needing better clarification.

In the SRD, it implies that you typically don't lose hp, etc from a spell effect. Does the Fell Drain/Improved Energy Drain supersede that general assumption? Would that be correct if you had a vampire mage casting fell drain MM, given that she has Improved Energy Drain as well, get a bunch of hp and bonuses from the spell hitting the target?

Stumped as anything,

I would say Improved Energy Drain would only work with your supernatural energy drain abilities.

Also I see no reason that you would get Hp's from successfully inflicting the negative level with a Fell Drain spell. It would be completely separate from any other energy drain ability that you have.
