| Gurv04-21-08, 04:38 PM | I know I've seen something on the forums about garrote attacks. Are there rules for them in a sourcebook somewhere? I haven't seen anything in 3.5. |
| tos_shai_hulud04-21-08, 04:46 PM | I think you would be looking for suffocation rules located here in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/environment.htm#suffocation) |
| Gurv04-21-08, 06:06 PM | I think you would be looking for suffocation rules located here in the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/environment.htm#suffocation) Well, I had that much taken into account. But there are no rules for making someone suffocate. The garrote ought to be able to do that and I though there were rules for it somewhere. |
| tos_shai_hulud04-21-08, 06:27 PM | The grapple rules don't work for that? |
| Gurv04-21-08, 07:02 PM | The grapple rules don't work for that? Not in any place that I have seen. Where does it say that you can grapple someone, cut off their air supply, and wait until they suffocate? Now, don't get me wrong. I think there should be some rules for that. I'm just wondering if there is some place where they have been included in the rules already. I'm trying to avoid making a house rule if there is a written rule that I overlooked. |

| Radijs04-26-08, 12:13 PM | There's a garrotte in the arms and equipment guide if I recall. |
| Sildatorak04-26-08, 12:36 PM | Any weapons that bypass hp should be avoided. Really, the best way to deal with a garrote is to have it deal 1d6 nonlethal damage/round a grapple is maintained and then trigger the suffocation rules against an unconscious opponent if you maintain the grapple. Against low-level goons you're still going to take them out in less than a minute, but just think how you would feel as a player if the DM suddenly had an assassin (not the PrC) gank you from behind and kill you in 3 rounds with only a couple of opposed rolls to save you. If you want to choke people out, take the Reaping Mauler PrC. If you want to kill/incapacitate people instantly, take a level of Assassin or some equivalent. |
