Quick question about how long you can hold your breath underwater.

PH 3.5 page 84 (under the Swim skill) says you can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to your Constitution score.

DMG 3.5 page 304 (under Drowning) says you can hold your breath for a number of rounds equal to twice your Constitution score.

I've checked the WotC errata for both books but can't find any reference to the discrepancy. Does anyone know of a definitive ruling or, in the absence one, which rule is most realistic?

Thanks!

The SRD states you can hold your breath for twice your Con score under both 'Swim' and 'Drowning'.

Sounds definitive to me.

As well as the newest version of the PHB says 2x(at least the leather bound special ed does as it contains all errata up till it came out).

Also, you can use a move action prior to diving under water to take a big breath, this adds 4 rounds to the normal amount you can hold your breath (twice your con score).

Do you have a reference for this?
