Okay, so in the PHB (3.0) it says on page 151
"Touch Spells and Holding the Charge: If you don't discharge a touch spell on the round you cast the spell, you can hold the discharge of the spell (hold the charge) indefinitely. You can make touch attacks round after round. You can touch one friend (or yourself) as a standard action or up to six friends as a full-round action. If you touch anything with your hand while holding a charge, the spell discharges. If you cast another spell the spell dissipates."
What I would like to know is does that mean you can have one spell affect multiple people. The book seems to say that you can and you can't at the same time. I've been going with no for my game but I'd like to know your opinion on this as it could have quite the affect. CLW anyone?

Holding the Charge means you are just not "using" the spell. It is like a gun, with only 1 bullet most of the time.

Certain spells give you multiple attacks, saying things like 1 Touch per Caster Level (like Chill Touch) or some other formula for giving multiple Touches, but if it doesn't say anything about having more than one, then you only get one.

The text is indicating that you can try to make a Touch Attack round after round, but once you actually succeed, the held spell is discharged.

As well as multiple-touch attacks, some buff spells allow multiple targets at range touch (eg water walk, water breathing). You can deliver such a spell to up to six willing targets in a single round as a full round action (and thus are limited in movement to a single 5 ft. step).

Kouk and Nom have got it covered, but I had a question about your signature. Are you suggesting we find the nearest ren fest or the nearest Texas? :D

Both. There's one hidden on every continent! You might think I'm kidding. But I'm not.
