| WalkenDude11-29-07, 12:33 AM | Just a little background: Our regular DM is going out of town for 3 weeks so one of the players offered to run a game. We're going to be goblins who raid towns, pillaging and such. He gave some of us wolves to ride around on, I want to have him pull a chariot though. So my DM agreed that I could modify a cart (35gp, 200lb) to small size (50 lbs). My character is a goblin who weighs 40 pounds. The DM says that the this 90 pounds (from the goblin and the cart) count towards his load (Wolf's light load is 75 lb), which makes sense, the pushing and dragging rules in the PHB seem to be for a player pushing some huge block around the ground, but not for an animal pulling something that has wheels on it. I'll looking to find a rule (hopefully Core and in 3.5) that says the amount a weight an animal can haul in a cart is greater then his normal load. Just to try to make it a little clearer, a light horse can carry 150 pounds as a light load, it seems to me he should be able to pull more than that as a light load if it is in a cart. I'd like to find this info in print. I did find some thing (pg 56, Arms and Equipment Guide) which states: "A light warhorse can pull the chariot at a speed of 60 feet, even with an unusually heavy driver aboard." The chariot which this refers to weights 300lb and and a LWH has a light load of 230. But this is from 3.0, I'd like to see something from 3.5 and points the rules out clearly. Any help would be great, thank you. |

On page 43 of the Arms & Equipment Guide you will find that you calculate the total weight of the vehicle plus the weight of the cargo and divide that by 4 (unless it isn't wheeled). Compare your quotient to table 9-1 in the PHB (page 162). Simple. Easy. No reason to complicate things. :dragon: ***** |

The Monster Manual shows how much each horse can drag precisely for this reason. |

| PenderGrass11-29-07, 01:45 PM | I'd multiply its respective load limits by 5. Why? A&EG recommends dividing by 4 - why change that? :dragon: ***** |
