Improved CS allows you to counter a spell with an equal or higher level spell (Ie counter Fireball with any other 3rd or higher spell). Divine Defiance out of Fiendish Codex II allows you to use a turn attempt to counterspell as an immediate action. If a cleric had both of these feats could he burn a turn attempt and then sac a hold person to counter a cure moderate wounds spell? Thanks in advance! |

Improved Counterspell only allows you to counterspell using a spell of the same school that is one ore more levels higher than the one you're trying to counter. The feat still combines well with Divine Defiance. If you had both, you could burn a turn attempt and a 3rd-level or higher Conjuration spell to counter a cure moderate wounds spell as an immediate action. |
