Obviously all lines, rays, ranged touch attacks, touch attacks, and targeted spells are countered. BUT does the Indigo viel protect against an area of effect? AND can spells such as summonings, walls of force, blade barrier, wall of fire, etc be cast so that they originate and begin play INSIDE the viel, if said viel is in between the enemy caster and a thus protected pc? ALSO if a magical item were to pass through an Indigo viel, would the item be supressed? If so for how many rounds, or would it instantaneously be magical again after passing through the wall? --- The scene in question; PC activates indigo viel NPC fires a max. emp. darkbolt to no effect. PC readies a move action to dodge whatever the NPC has planned next PC notices that his consecrate is countered by a desecration effect in the area. NPC casts Blade Barrier, beginning its area of effect inside the viel. Argument over whether or not AOEs can affect through the viel, and spell targeting. |

In essence, the veil stops line of effect to all spells, preventing anyone from creating an effect beyond the veil or bringing an effect beyond the veil. Nothing prevents summoned creatures from crossing the veil (assuming they resist the insanity effect from the same veil). Magic items are not affected by the veil, but any spell effects cast by the items cannot cross the veil. For example, if you have an item that allows you to use magic missile a number of times per day, the veil would stop the missiles from crossing, but not the item itself. Also, assume that in every instance of spell in this post, I'm also including spell-like abilities. |

| Marcus Majarra04-21-07, 05:27 PM | The veil doesn't stop ongoing effects. Also, Ghost Step is a supernatural ability, not a spell-like ability. It suffers in no way from the indigo veil. |
