| Myzery7808-15-07, 08:18 PM | Jumping is a common occurance in most any campaign, but while designing a dungeon I thought about pit traps and it made me wonder. Now imagine if you will a battle map, and on that map is drawn a 15 by 5ft corridor. In the center of that corridor is a 5ft pit. Now if you wanted to jump from one side of that pit to the other you'd have to make a jump check, but what is the DC? The pit itself is only 5ft across, and In all the campaigns I've run/been in we've treated this type of pit as a DC 10 jump check, jumping 5 ft with no running start. Recently though it occured to me that you're actually moving 10ft, clearing the 5ft pit and moving into the next 5ft square. So this is my question to all the other DMs or rules lawyers out there: Is the above scenario a DC 10 5ft jump, a DC 20 10ft jump, or a DC 10 5ft jump and another 5ft of movement? |
