| Gottwick03-26-07, 05:24 PM | I'm running a cleric of a war-god with a Str 12. My armor, weapon and a little gear pushes me up to a medium load (47 lbs), so I'm slow ... 20'. What can I do about that? Feats, spells, items, anything. Our barbarian fighter is rushing into battle twice as fast as me. I didn't mean to design a turtle. |

Some options: Add a level of barbarian (assuming you have only medium armor); Give 4 lb. of your gear to the barbarian to carry for you (stuff like bedroll, blanket, extra torches, etc., make excellent candidates); Drop your backpack on the first round of combat; Obtain a Heward's handy haversack; Obtain gauntlets of ogre power; Wait until level 8 (adding +1 Str at level 4, and +1 Str at level 8); Cast bull's strength; Cast enlarge person; Drink potion of longstrider; Drink potion of expeditious retreat; ... I'm sure there are many many more. |

A cleric with heavy armor is going to move at 20 ft - and that same cleric with a medium load is going to move at 15 ft! (unless you're playing a dwarf) My advice: the Heward's Handy Haversack is a good way to get around most (but not all) load problems initially. |

(unless you're playing a dwarf) This is incorrect. The movement reductions for carrying a medium/heavy load and wearing medium/heavy armor do not stack. Only the worst applies. |

Oh, good to know, thanks (: Load is rarely a problem in my experience because of all the ways to get around it - I can't remember a situation where this was even an issue. |

I've only really seen load as an issue for people hit with strength draining effects and for rogues before they get a handy haversack. |
