On page 131, the Sandals of Springing give a +10 enhancement bonus to jump checks. It costs 10k.

The DMG, which is my main source for creating magic items, mentions in its guidelines that bonuses to skills are generally "competence" bonuses. When comparing the pricing of different types of bonuses, I quickly see that the Sandals from the MIC do not match up well with other similar items.

Here is the question: Has anyone figured out a way to fairly adjudicate building items that give bonuses to skills for epic characters?

For a few hundred thousand gold, a character could have an easy +50 bonus to Spellcraft, for instance.

This doesn't seem reasonable, so I'm kind of asking you to help me wrap my mind around it. If it makes sense to you, please explain.

This is one of the "is it really all that useful/game breaking" items. They looked at what it would cost, when you could get it, would it be worth it by then. They decieded no and then lowered the cost to reflect where it would be worth it/least abusable. Spell craft is much more valuble and thus deserves a higher cost. You as DM are free to retool prices just as much as the designers of the game, esp if you (as you are) are inventing new items.

The formulas are only rough guidelines. Unfortunately you will have to eyeball most every new item and figure out a cost for its benefits.
