| Keyar8105-22-07, 09:00 AM | Do Monsters and NPC's obey the same rules for death as set forth for characters in the phb or do they die when they hit 0? |
| Morwen05-22-07, 09:28 AM | The same rules. However, undead die at 0. |
| tiercel05-22-07, 07:42 PM | Constructs are also destroyed at 0. In practice, I find that your average monster is removed from the battlemap at 0 -- most DMs will only track negative hit points for BBEGs, and/or monsters who could somehow wind up being in the area of some kind of AoE healing. |
| Kouk05-22-07, 09:35 PM | Right. In theory, they are alive until negative 10 (for living things). In practice, they are dead unless the enemy group has a cleric or your PCs want to capture one alive and interrogate it later. Enemies that are not *quite* dead at the end of a fight are usually left to die on their own -- but I guess there is no rule saying they can't stabilize and seek revenge at a later date... |
