| BranWheat06-02-07, 03:17 PM | Hello, I'm running one of the newer modules that have come out recently, The Eyes of the Lich Queen, and I have a question about the new tactical encounter format and how experience should be awarded for it. Many of the encounters are listed as such "2 Poison Dusk Lizardfolk - CR 2" or "3 Poison Dusk Lizardfolk - CR 2". Does this mean the entire encounter is CR 2 or that each individual monster is CR2? When awarding XP, the DM's guide breaks down experience by a per monster basis, if the above encounters are group CR's, how would I handle XP? Thanks |
| Murrdox06-02-07, 06:05 PM | I'm not sure how Wizards publishes encounters in their published adventures. However, it sounds as if the CR listed is per monster. If you have more than one monster, I would expect the book to use "EL" for Encounter Level instead. For example: 2 Poison Dusk Lizards - CR 2 (EL 4) So the Dusk Lizards are CR 2 a piece, and the entire encounter is EL 4. |
