I am unsure then, as to whether or not you can take a 5' step as normal. Can you perform a full attack and then a 5' step, even though the move cost is doubled? |

That might actually be worse. With unsure footing, you'd be constantly making balance checks, which means no Dex bonus to AC for you. Plus, many of the bones are very old & brittle, cracking under your weight. |

| 1 ton ghost11-08-07, 04:01 PM | terrain that bad would be more like deep snow, or 1/4 movement, not to mention the occaisional Dex or Reflex check to avoid impalement during combat, not so much in typical movement. good call on that balance check though for the top side. |
| Phrennzy11-09-07, 10:01 AM | Yeah the more I thought about this, the more I realized I need to make the bones a little more shallow, like knee/calf deep on a human. It's more for a creepiness factor, and the slower movement to add a little obstacle for combat to keep it from being boring. The room has a high cieling, and 10' up each wall are four platforms, each with a statue of a skeleton, 16 skeletal statues in all. Four of the statues are spell stitched skeletons (sleep and produce flame) and two of the statues have vargouilles as heads (replacing the skulls). The spell stitched skeletons are painted the same stone color as the statues. The idea being that the monsters attack as the party moves through the room. Its a group of 4 3rd level PCs. I figure this as an EL 6. It sounds bad, but all of the foes have light hit points. The vargouilles will be pretty straightforward - shriek and try to kiss, then bite. When the spell stitched cast their spells, they dont move - their eyes glow. The other statues also have glowing eyes, the idea here being to give no obvious target to the PCs. I hope they don't read this, lol. |
