I'm clear on almost everything involved, but one thing the original rules don't address is creature advancement. I know you're not allowed to polymorph into templated creatures, but are you allowed to polymorph into a creature with more than the minimum hit dice listed? Example: A remorhaz starts out with 7 HD. My caster level is 8; can I polymorph into a 8 HD remorhaz? Or more importantly, can I polymorph into something like an 8 HD pixie or rust monster? (The pixie's advancement is only listed as "2-3 HD (Small)" so I'm guessing that's the upper limit; but the rust monster goes up to 15 HD (Large).) Obviously, creatures like dragons and hydras are a special case, since they have separate listings at various HD levels. |
