The rules for energy shield seems to be a bit problematic, at least for me. How often takes the attacker damage? For each attack? Once a round? Once in an ecounter? For me once a round sounds reasonable. For each attack it seems too powerful, as it deals a lot of damage.

Any thoughts?

Energy Shield damage applies every time you or your allies is Hit by a melee weapon.

So if you are hit 4 times, they take energy damage 4 times, but if they swing 4 times and miss 3, they only take damage once.

The few times I've played with Dragon Shaman, the effect has not been over-powerful.
Its only effective against creatures that have a lot of attacks per round, and even then the amount of damage is small compared to the damage you take from being hit.
Also, by the time the aura gets up to 6 or 8 damage, many opponents have energy resistance to block it.
