11-19-07, 08:19 AM A prone character can stand up as a move action that provokes an attack of opportunity. Alternatively, he can choose to spend a full-round action to get up without provoking said attack. This is RAW (as far as I know), and I am well aware of how the rules work.

I'm simply trying to find WHERE it says this, for clarification purposes. Standing up as a move action is detailed on page 143 of the PHB, but where does it say you can stand up as a full-round action?

11-19-07, 10:27 AM Without any special feats or abilities to modify... Standing from prone is always a move action that always provokes. There is no option to stand using a full-round and not provoke.

Think about it logistically -- Why would taking longer to stand help protect you?

The ability to stand without provoking is a very powerful tool and is saved for a feat, called Prone Attack.
