Hi, I have 2 main questions
1. When a PC gains a level does he learn new spells? If not how does he?
2. What is the rule on reaining hp and mana? Do you just give the PC's all their hp and mana back at the begining of the session, can the PC's say "We rest for 12 hours" and then get their it back, or is there a certain system in which to do so?

Than you for the help in advance!

1. Did you read the PHb? Each class tells you how they gain new spells. There are a lot of tables telling you this.

Example:
Bards/Sorcerors get theirs automatically, but are limited by spells known table.

Wizards get 2 free spells/level (up to max they can cast), but have to buy new spells after that.

Example:
Level 2, you gain 2 more level 1 spells for free. If you want more; you gotta pay to scribe them and to costs to acquire them: this can be buying a scroll, asking another wizard to let you copy from their spell book, etc.

Now Cleric/Paladin/Druid/Ranger all get their spells automatically without a spell known limit.
In fact, they know their whole spell list as soon as they can cast level 1 spells (which only matters for Ranger/Pal because they don't have spells to cast till 4th).

2. Mana does not exist in D&D. There are spell points (act similar to mana) in unearthed arcana splatbook, but that isn't Core rules.

You have to rest a full day's rest 8 hours (every 24 hours) usually at night like real life to regain arcane spells.
Clerics just have to wait till appropriate time: no resting required. This is Dawn or dusk depending on alignment.
Hp is 1 per level regained each day. Thus level 11 is 11 hp/day.

This is why mosty parties either buy wands of Cure Light Wounds or have a Cleric/Divine caster to cast CLW also.

Thank you alot Nephlite, you see why I needed help lol. Me and my group are new to D20 and are using the Everquest D20 system at this moment in time. We are waiting for 4e to come out to play D&D. I am do my best, on acount my players want me to, to translate the rules from everquest into D&D so that they can get a sense of D&D or what not. SO far it has worked greatly since Everquest's system is basesd on the dnd system but it did not really cover these rules. So once again thank you for your time and help and examples.
