| drizzt42002-19-08, 12:20 PM | A PC in a game I run utilizes Quicken spell while casting spells as per the rules but now wants to add the Monster Manual feat Quicken Spell Like Ability. Not positive off of the top of my head but I believe he is a Wizo 8/Shadow Adept 6. Do you generally allow PC's to take feats from the MM? I know I was recommended Improved Natural Attack for a monk I was going to play by an old DM so this is why I was asking. Seems reasonable enough to allow him to take it, but did not want to potentially break the game. The PC is notorious for trying to manipulate the DM into allowing options for his PC's but at the same time, hiding his true intentions of why he really wants to take the feat. All I can see for him now as far as spell like abilities are Shadow Shield but do not have the FRCS in front of me and am working on this at errr...work. |

Since the feat only applies to spell-like abilities (i.e. not actual spells), this would only seem to be useful for the Shadow Adept's Shadow Walk ability. Also, it only applies to one spell-like ability. Lastly, the quicken spell-like ability (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsterFeats.htm#quickenSpellLikeAbility ) says: "The creature can only select a spell-like ability duplicating a spell with a level less than or equal to half its caster level (round down) -4" The PC is evidently CL 14, but to quicken shadow walk would require that he be CL 18 or 20. |
