Are there any official rules on what to do when a mounted character wants to use certain skills like Hide? I would assume that the mount would have to make the Hide check, but I'm wondering if there are any set rulings, since I can't find them.

Generally the mount uses it's own modifiers for everything.

Of course the rules already give handle animal DC25 to "push" an animal (get it to perform a task or trick that it doesn’t know but is physically capable of performing). Then the animal needs to make a hide by itself (-3 modifier).

You could also try the epic usage of the hide skill to hide another. "By accepting a -30 penalty on his or her Hide check, a character can hide another adjacent creature whose size is no more than one category larger than the character’s own."

I think they'd both need to make independant hide checks.

I would have the mount make the check and give the rider a free action to assist (so if the rider made a better than 10 Hide check the mount would get a +2 bonus on the check).
